Orthodontist Allan Phillips is all smiles.

He and Katherine Lambert , his subject partner for the past 20 years and fellow orthodontist, recently reopened their routine's Brookfield office after a fire in 2007.

"It's an ideal location for our patients to reach and I've been here so many years," said Phillips, who launched the support in 1979, a few years after graduating from New York University 's dental school and completing orthodontics training. "It's like an old shoe."

Phillips said the 2007 fire noticeable the second time in the past five years that the three-story building with about 40 offices -- including Phillips & Lambert LLC on the imperfect floor -- has been destroyed by flames.

"It was started by a short in one of the offices down the auditorium," he said of the latest blaze in the building at 304 Federal Route. "It's been an interesting journey, but I'm hanging in there."

After establishing the Brookfield location, Phillips opened offices in New Milford in 1982, Bethel in 1985 and Ridgefield in 1988. A dozen years later, he and Lambert hung their shingle facing a fifth office in Wilton.
